Send us the photograph
A face, a pet, a whole family. The one in bad light you have never been able to delete works too. Add it when you order, or send it straight afterwards.
We make it and post it
Your photograph is set inside the stone in the heart charm. Not printed on it. Inside it. Then it is posted to you from our production partner overseas, and most orders arrive within two to three weeks.
You hold it to a light
Any phone torch behind the stone, and the photograph appears on whatever is in front of it.
What it actually is
We'd rather tell you than have you find out
The photograph is set inside the stone in the heart charm. It is not printed on the surface, and this is not a locket — it does not open. You see it by putting a light behind it, which is the whole point: it sits on a keyring all day and nobody else notices it.
The charm is a plated finish over a base metal, in gold or silver. It is not solid gold and we will never suggest otherwise.
If any of this turns out to be wrong about the piece you receive, that is our mistake to fix, not yours to live with.
Before you order
The questions we actually get
How do I actually see the photograph?
You hold a phone torch against the back of the stone and point the front at something pale — a wall, a ceiling, the inside of your hand. The photograph appears there.
Plainly, so there are no surprises: the projected picture is about the size of your palm, soft at the edges and dim. It looks like a small slide projection in a dark room, not a sharp photograph on a screen — faces read clearly, fine detail does not, and it washes out in bright daylight. In ordinary light the stone just looks like a small dark stone, which is the point.
Will it survive being on a keyring?
The image is inside the stone rather than printed on it, so there is nothing on the surface to rub off. The charm is metal and the ring is a standard split ring. It is made to be carried, not kept in a drawer.
Is it a locket? Does it open?
No. Nothing opens and there is no paper photograph inside. The image is in the stone itself.
What kind of photograph works best?
A clear one where the face is reasonably large in frame. Group photos work but everyone ends up small. If yours will not read well we email you before we make anything rather than sending you something disappointing.
Can I return it if I change my mind?
Not for a change of mind — it has one person's photograph in it and cannot be sold to anybody else. What we do cover: if we set the wrong photograph, or it arrives damaged, we remake it free. You approve your photograph before we make anything, either when you order or from the proof we email you afterwards, and that step exists to protect you.
Can I pay with a card?
Yes. You can pay by card at checkout, and PayPal is available as well if you would rather use it.
What if I did not upload a photograph?
That is fine, and it is why the upload is optional. Order first and we email you straight afterwards to collect the photograph. Nothing goes into production until you have sent it and approved it.
How long does it take?
Each one is made to order by our production partner overseas and then posted to you. Most orders arrive within two to three weeks of being placed. If you send the photograph after ordering, count from the day you approve it, because nothing is made before then. We would rather tell you that plainly than promise a few days and miss it.
Is it really $20 with the necklace?
Yes. On its own the keychain is $39.99. With the Hidden Photo Necklace in the same bag, $19.99 comes off the keychain automatically, so it is $20, and you will see the discount in your bag before you pay. It applies once for each necklace in the bag.
